Day 304) Happy Halloween!

Finally Halloween is there and as this day will end.
My Halloween themed nail arts will end as well.
I really had fun making them and they've brought me a lot of inspiration.

Here is my last Halloween nail art and I chose to make this one GLOW:

Essence nail art GLOW in the night top coat

Day 303) Ballet nail art

Today I had an urge to do some pretty, sweet and pink nails.
I didn't have to look far for my inspiration...as I was a ballet dancer in my younger years (before I started to love food hahaha).

Day 302) I've got the music in me

Finally a nail art in honor of 'MUSIC'
Music gives color to my life (as does nail polish ;-D)
Although I'm not able to play any instrument I'm pretty good at Guitar Hero and singing along with the radio (but don't check with my loved ones hahaha).
What did I paint:
- Equalizer
- Guitar
- Music notes
- Piano

Day 301) Wild and edgy nails

With today's nail art I didn't really have a goal.
That is for the design.
I did have a goal color wise.
I just needed to do a nail art with my favourite color combo: black with holo glitter.
And the design I ended up with was wild and edgy (I think).
I could have called it icicles or stalactites/stalagmites but that sounds less hot right ;-D

Polishes used:
- Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 39 Black To The Routes
- Flormar P046 (holo glitter)

Day 300) Catrice Limited Edition 'Thrilling Me Softly' (Swatches+nail art Gothic)

Catrice came out with a new limited edition called 'Thrilling Me Softly' and as a Catrice fan I want to show you this limited edition.

Catrice about this limited edition:
Belles Rebelles. A rebellion on a mission to create new paths and more passion in the world of fashion. A reunion with gothic culture is developing into an exciting encounter. Catwalks are covered in leather and lace. Graceful, mysterious and feminine. Black dominates the field in a modern interpretation combined with bright reds as well as soft rosé and nude shades. Highlights are set in a cool gold and purple. The Limited Edition “Thrilling me Softly” by CATRICE translates this trend into the language of beauty. Eyes, lips and nails are accentuated with partially metallic and partially matt effects as well as soft textures.

This limited edition comes with 5 (new) polishes. 'New' is written in brackets because especially the red and purple look very simular to previous limited edition colors.

But this doesn't need to spoil the fun.
Let's go to the swatches (All swatched with 2 coats and no topcoat):

C01 - Discreet

C02 - Suspect
Metallic polish with (of course) a streaky finish

C03 - Occult

C04 - Allure
With a very subtile shimmer that I just couldn't catch on camera

C05 - Daredevil
My favourites are C01 - Discreet and I'm really no fan of nudes but this one is more like a beige/light brown which makes it perfect for fall...
and C04 - Allure because the beautiful shimmer makes the color also perfect for Christmas :D

For the Nail art I chose to reunite with the Gothic culture as well.
I was inspired by a Gothic dress on the accent nail and anckle bracelet for the other nails.

Day 299) Nail art rainbow waterfall

So, this week's challenge on NPQ is "Waterfall nail art".
Let's start with a confession...I hadn't heard of it before this challenge (◐.̃◐)
But when I looked at the nail arts they suggested I was like: "Oh, is that a waterfall nail art!"
It is actually a pretty simple design which can be achieved by amateurs as well as pro's.

Now, I didn't bother to make a tutorial. You can find a good one at Nailasaurus.

I immediately wanted to do a rainbow waterfall (of course ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿).
And it was only after I finished my nail art that I realized that I hadn't followed the Nailasaurus tutorial...

So here is my tutorial in words (sorry!)
1) Start by painting your nails black
2) Get your rainbow colors
I chose to use my glitters.
The 7 colors of the rainbow were IMAO too much for using it on just one nail but splitting them up between 4 nails isn't easy either right?!
So, after taking a good look at my glitters I came to 12 colors: dark red, red, reddish orange, orange, yellow, light green, green, turquoise, teal, blue, dark purple, purple
Three colors per nail.
3) Each color got 1/3 part of the nail.
I used a striper brush to make stripes with the first color (dark red) on 1/3 of the Nail. Then I made stripes with the second color (red) from 1/3 to 2/3 and so on...
The stripes have different lengths

Day 298) Rhinestones gradient

I've been dying to do a nail art like this for a very long time now.
Simular nail arts have passed my eyes and each time I thought to myself: "I need to do this!"
I only needed colored rhinestones but I found them quite expensive for maybe just one nail art.
Recently I found it a shop simular to a Dollar Shop and of course went for it.

Although the wheel has 12 compartments, there are only 11 colors:
  1) 2x Crystal
  2) Crystal AB
  3) Pink
  4) Red
  5) Plum
  6) Dark blue
  7) Blue
  8) Light blue
  9) Brownish orange
10) Green
11) Black

I thought a gradient would be best because this way I can show you the most colors.
I didn't bother to make a perfect line between the colors as it is a gradient.

Day 297) Nail art ladybugs

Today's nail art was/is meant for +bubica vucko .

I met her here on G+ and I think I'm allowed to say that we've become friends.
We can't wait to see each other's nails each day and she is challenging herself to paint remakes of my nail arts or dedicates nail arts especially to me.

Time to do something back!
I asked her what she likes and her answers were:
- Her orange/brown dog, called Bubica
- Vucko which is her nick name and stands for mean wolf/cute wolf
- Red clothes

Now, let me start with what I've been doing all day and...without success :(
I planned to make a gradiënt over 4 nails.
Starting from the index with ladybugs (she mentioned once that she loves ladybugs as well) going to the middle into plants and flowers (she also has a blog about it). Then fading into flames on the ring (because I think she is wild :D) and finally the flames would surround her dog's head on the pinky.

I think this was a wonderful idea but as I felt a little pressured to make something outstanding for her, everything simply failed.

And sorry, dear +bubica vucko I had to give up and let go of this idea. I hope you're not disappointed!
I kept the ladybugs and red for you.
Hope you like this nail art instead

Day 296) Fall nail art gnome

I've been wanting to do a nail art with gnomes and some mushrooms/toadstools as their houses.
But as I was starting with a gnome I soon realised that the head already was a full nail cover :(
I could have started over and make a smaller version but I was happy with my gnome and didn't want to bother anymore.

I did think it looked kinda like Santa Clause :-/ To make it more fall I painted some tiny leaves around the head.

After finishing the accent nail I was pretty much done with doing nails.
I skipped the mushrooms and went for a simple mani for the rest of the nails; red with white dots (which is of course still a little reference to the toadstool).

Day 295) Graceful nail art

Today I bought a beautiful polish at Claire's.
In fact, it is so beautiful that I didn't want to cover it with a nail art.
Let's start with some swatches so you know what I'm talking about:

Claire's 60484 Glitter Pink/Purple

First of all I don't know why it's also called a pink. I only see a beautiful purple. Now that I'm taking a better look at my pictures you might see that the holo glitter that have a pink glance show more in the pictures...but that's the only pink I can see!
This polish is build up with purple microglitter (mostly), silver microglitter (a little less than the purple) and holo microglitter (rich).
It applies simular to a liquid sand, but maybe with less opacity.
The first coat gives an even glitter look on the nails with a purple glance. You can still see the difference between nail and tip in color.
The second coat makes an almost opaque result, besides some spots round the cuticles.
A third and fourth layer is just to make it perfect.
Application wise this is easy. Polish spreads even and dries quite quickly (which is really nice when you have to apply 3 to 4 coats).
The holo glitter sparkles in every light (artificial and natural) giving taht WOW-factor :D
I didn't want to ruin the holo effect so the pictures above are without topcoat.
But after making my nail art design I decided to give it a chance and applied a topcoat....it got even more prettier!!!
Like I said before, I didn't want to cover these nails with a nail art but as you all knwo my challenge is 365 days of "Nail art" so I felt I had to...
I decided to go for something a bit graceful.
Nothing special; some dots, a swirl, flowers and a tiny butterfly

Day 294) Halloween nails (Witch on broom)

Today one of my last Halloween designs.
I started with an orange polish.
Then I hand painted the witch on broom on the ring finger nail using a black polish and striper brush.
I sponged the other nails with black leaving a half moon mani.

Oh yeah and I gave it a nice shiny topcoat, which gives it a perfect mirror outcome ;-D (if you look closely on the index you can see a tree, some houses and me...hahaha

Day 293) Braided nails

I'm trying to follow each weeks challenge on NPQ.
This week the challenge is "braided nail art/fishtail braid".
I've done this design before and I don't want to do the same thing twice so I always try to change it a bit so it looks like a different design.
If you want to know how to make a fishtail braid nail art, you can find my step-by-step here

Here is today's fishtail nail art with the colors I love: white, grey and black:

The ring finger:
- After the basecoat I applied a piece of tape on 1/3 of the nail
- On the other 2/3 part I painted the fishtail braid
- Then I removed the tape and polished this part white
- Ending with some grey and black dots in different sizes

Day 292) Nail art painting rainbow flowers

After a lot of rainy days today actually started off kinda nice...of course in the afternoon the rain started again but at least there has been some sun :D
Having some sunshine makes me want to make a colorful nail art.

As inspiration for today's nail art I used this image:

I replaced the butterflies with flowers (to make it easy ;D)

Day 291) Nail art elephants

In preparation for the coming Carnival/Mardi Gras we have the theme "Circus".
I had to think about a row of elephants holding each other by the tail.
So I decided to translate this to a nail art.
Four elephants getting smaller on each nail, holding each other by the tail with their trunk.
After painting these I decided the top of the nails needed something as well...so the first elephant is blowing hearts with the trunk all over the other nails.
I'm not really good at painting animals (elephants) so forgive my weird looking elephants hahaha...
it's all about the cuteness of the design ;D

Day 290) Nail art fall (magnet design)

Although magnetic nail polish isn't that hot anymore I do think the effect is still very nice and the one who invented it must be very clever.
Especially with the Essence nail art magnet pen you can create fun designs; as long as it isn't that complicated and detailed.
For today's nail art I created a simple fall design using magnetic polish and the magnet pen.

Left picture is without flash, right picture is with flash.
Polish used:
Sally Hansen Magnetic Nail Color 907 Electric Emerald

Day 289) Nail art Pink Ribbon beads

Today a day with much inspiration but just not lucky hands ;D
No really, everything I created was a total mess and looked like it was created by my 2 year old daughter...No, she would have done an even better job :(
After several attempts I got frustrated and decided to take it really easy and the pictures aren't of high quality either.
I hope you'll forgive me!

As base color I used Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer Limited Edition Hip Trip C03 The Salmon Dance. A beautiful salmon colored polish with a pearly shine. I used 3 coats because I don't like tip see through.

After this I made a Pink Ribbon on the ring finger with pink beads.
I finished all the nails with a Catrice glitter topcoat

Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 45 Kitch Me If You Can

A (not so rich) glitter topcoat existing of silver/holo micro glitter and pink hexagons.

Day 288) Nail art Halloween (mix)

Halloween is giving me so many ideas for nail art designs.
And I'm having my own party doing free hand painting :D which is my biggest passion.

Today I have a Halloween mix with:
- Halloween in letters made of branches/twigs
- Scythe
- Ghost
- Witch hat
- Spider web
- Black cat
- Coffin
- Cemetery

Day 287) Dry marbled nails

I'm going to be honest with you:
Today I wanted to do a fast and easy nail art...and I did it!
I chose to use the dry marbling technique.
I started of with an opaque white base color and let it dry completely (I used a topcoat to speed up the process).
Then I applied blobs of polishes on the nail and used a dottingtool to swirl it.
For each nail I used white and black and one of the following colors: dark green, dark red, dark purple and dark blue.
It became messy art but I like it!!

Day 286) Nail art royal flush

Today another nail art for the Las Vegas challenge.
I've been asked to paint a royal flush.
My first thought was to give each nail a card but I really wasn't looking forward to paint that King, Queen and Jack.
So I decided to make a royal flush being part of the Welcome sign of Las Vegas.

Day 285) Pretty bling nail art

I'm late.
Too late for a free hand design.
So I took it easy with a simple, pretty design.

First a swatch:

Essie 243 Beyond Cozy

A silver glitter polish which has good coverage in 1 coat and is perfect with two coats.
This polish is from the winter 2012 collection.

For the nail art I chose to do a half moon mani.

Polishes used:
- Essie 243 Beyond cozy (I needed a base because the glitter topcoat isn't opaque after several layers)
- NYC 003 Disco Inferno (Glitter topcoat)
- NYC 208 Pier 17

Day 284) Viva Las Vegas nail art

I'm a member of Nail Polish Queens (NPQ) which is a community here on Google+
If you're loving nail polish/nail art and/or other nail related things (which you probably do because you're reading my blog ;-D) you should join for sure.
The moderators of this community (which are really lovely people) host a weekly challenge for all who's interested. Nothing to win, just a bunch of people showing their work with that weeks theme.
This week's theme is Las Vegas!
As I'm low on inspiration this challenge really helps me to get some new ideas! So, thanks ladies!

Here are my Viva Las Vegas nails and chances are I will do another one this week :D

Day 283) Nail art fall colors

Busy day today.
A day of no inspiration, desire, willingness.
But a challenge is a challenge, so I tried to get over it and at least make something that looks like a design :D
I wanted to use my new fall colors and the design just happened...nothing fancy but not bad either.

Day 282) Halloween nail art Mickey & MInnie

Tomorrow I'm going to be a kindergarten teacher.
Therefore I wanted to make a nail art that children like.
And which kid doesn't like Mickey and Minnie?

Day 281) Colour change nail polish Casuelle

I've shown a mood changing polish before which you can find here.
With the Mia Secret polish there was a slightly change to see between the tip and the rest of the nail.
My nails were kinda short back then, so not much to see.

With this in mind and longer nails now I expected to get the same results from today's polish.

Casuelle Colour changing nailpolish:
Feel like daydream dancing

It's a bright pink which turns to white.

First a swatch:
It's a pretty jelly pink. Very bright and perfect to wear just like this!
It does needs 2 to 3 coats to get good coverage.
I waited a little while but nothing changed in colour.
I tried the water thing again; place the hands in warm water and that did the trick.
It changed completely into white and out of the water it changed quite quickly back into pink, starting from the tips.
I really love the effect. It's a pitty it only lasts for a few seconds though.

As the polish is pink I thought this color asked for another Breast Cancer Awareness nail art.

Day 280) Jasper transfer foil

With my last order I decided to make it a round number and therefore Jasper transfer foil also got a chance ;D

This is what it looks like:

It actually transfers the same way on the nail but I think my nail picture doesn't do it justice.
It's a mix of silver, bronze and browns.
Perfect for fall!!!
Earlier this day I almost had a perfect transfer but didn't have time to take pictures.
I hadn't applied any topcoat so when I came to taking pictures I already had some tip wear (which is not odd with transfer foil).
I decided to paint the tips in a bronze because I didn't want to do the mani again.

Some parts are so shiny you can see yourself in it.
Because I want this mani to last till tomorrow I decided to use a topcoat...mostly not recommended by transfer foils.
But this time it made al tiny cracks in it which I kinda like...it gives a sort of tree bark look.

Day 279) Nail art Halloween with water decals

Finally feeling a bit better.
Tomorrow I'll show the prices for the "If I were a rich girl" give-away.

Today we went to the Zoo with the kids.
Watching them, walking with them, teaching them and trying to please them made me very tired.
Therefore a nail art with water decals...easy and fast :D

Water decals used:
Bluesea Nail sticker K097 (Halloween)

Day 278) Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Fot today another nail art to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM).

When I was in my teens my best friend her mother had breast cancer.
Her mother found out she had breast cancer 12 years before that...the doctors said it had already spread and that there was nothing they could do about it anymore.
Chemo and radiation treatments could only try to prolong her life.
Two young children, husband and she was in her 30s.
They gave her 2 years at the most.
She was a fighter, wanted to see her children grow up.
She had no breasts and hair anymore for as long as I remember and still the only time we got reminded of her disease was when she had had a chemo again.
Then she would be ill for some time but for us kids it felt like she had the flu.
When we were in our final exams her mom got worse...Suddenly the disease was winning and very quickly.
Her mother didn't want to die while her youngest was in her finals. She promised my friend she would keep on fighting until she had passed her exams.
In the beginning of the exams...I think it was the second day or so (of in total 9) my friend unexpectedly came around at night crying at my door.
I thought her mother had died but she hadn't.
My friend cried and cried and finally told me that she felt bad to keep her mom fighting while she was so sick and dying.
We all cried that night. It felt like saying goodbye for all of us.
I told my friend to ask and tell her mom all the things she wanted to say...before it would be too late.
I also told her "fuck your exams". We will do it over again next year together.
She went home and talked with her mom all night. They cried, they laughed, they shared memories, they were together, she asked everything she could think of...and then promised her mom that she would pass the exams and would succeed in life.
She also told her mom to rest and finally stop the fight...
The next day we had two exams. I couldn't concentrate en neither could my friend. We were both waiting for it I guess...and then the moment was there...the principal walked in the exam room and we looked at each other and started crying. Time had come...she finaly found peace!!!
With all the emotions, fears, tears and stuff my friend told me she had to pass her exams for her mom.
The next days I helped her study at courses I didn't have.
She passed!!! I didn't :) Not regretting a single thing!
She made her mom proud and I hate that she isn't here anymore to see what a beautiful woman her daughter has become...a loving wife, mother and friend!
Girl...you rock...and so did your mother!!
Love you!

Hope for the fighters!
Peace for the survivors!
Prayers for the taken!
