Today I bring you Catrice limited edition Check & Tweed.

Pictures are all taken outside without flash.

It showed the colors most truly but there are some irritating reflections/shadows in the pictures...try to not see them please  ;-P

C01 London Calling

London Calling is a grey-blue that could work great for jeans mani's.

C02 England's Rose

England's Rose would be the soft rosé color. For me it's a soft salmon color or a pinkish nude.

C03 Mind The Red!

Mind The Red! is a brown/red. I'm not sure if Catrice is describing this polish as being the rusty red or the camel color,

For me this color looks like the color of red brick.

C04 Brit Chick

Brit Chick is a dark brown with red and a bit of purple undertones. 

It reminds me of grapes.

C05 Hyde In The Park

Hyde In The Park is a forest dark green.

Review

Application:

Let's start with the worst and most frustrating part of this collection: the brush.

It's indeed extra-broad but the shape of the brush doesn't make apllication easy. 

This is not new for Catrice. The brushes have been like this for a while now but I still can't get used to it.

Coverage:

Let's say that the coverage totally makes up for the poor brush.

These were all one coaters! 

Or two thin coats as you please.

Colors:

Nothing really special.

The colors are prefect for fall!

My personal favorites are C01 London Calling and C05 Hyde In The Park.

Finish/effect:

Catrice is talking about a pearly finish. 

For me it's more a silver/metal shimmer.

Pearly is sweet. Metal is more rough and this is more rough IMAO.

The shimmer however is very subtle and with some lacquers more noticeable than with others.

Finish is not textured but not 100% smooth and glossy either.

All swatches are without topcoat but I do recommend the use of it as it makes the colors more vivid and shows the shimmer better.

Verdict:

Beautiful fall colors but for me it doesn't have the "WOW-factor".

Nail art

I had a beautiful tweed pattern in mind fo my nail art.

But after several attempts, I was done with it.

I ended up with something simular but not totally as I had imagined.

It's all free hand and with the use of the lacquers from this collection.

Day 310) Nail art fall

Today another fall nail art.

Fall colors used:
- Maybelline Forever Strong Pro 720 Green Miracle (index)
- NYC 335 Red Melody (middle)
- NYC 002 Full Metal Jacket (ring)
- NYC 340 All of the lights (pinky)

I used the ring fnger as accent nail.
I sponged the three colors as base and painted gold simple fall leaves on top of it.
The accent nail is finished with a matte topcoat, the others got a shiny one.
The matte topcoat in combination with the gold overruled all the sponged colors (at least picture wise, in real life the colors are better shown).

Day 307) November Rain

It's November and when I hear November I always have to think about the Guns N' Roses song called "November Rain".
It sounds suitable for November as it's raining a lot here in November.
And not only 'water' rain...it also rains fall leaves (the last ones).
As I was thinking of this 'double' rain I wanted to translate it to a nice fall nail art.

I've only used a small dottingtool for this nail art to make two kinds of leaves and rain drops.
Here's a little tutorial for it:

 

 

 

The black circles are dots. The arrows show how you'll have to pull the polish with your dottingtool.

 

 

 



Day 300) Catrice Limited Edition 'Thrilling Me Softly' (Swatches+nail art Gothic)

Catrice came out with a new limited edition called 'Thrilling Me Softly' and as a Catrice fan I want to show you this limited edition.

Catrice about this limited edition:
Belles Rebelles. A rebellion on a mission to create new paths and more passion in the world of fashion. A reunion with gothic culture is developing into an exciting encounter. Catwalks are covered in leather and lace. Graceful, mysterious and feminine. Black dominates the field in a modern interpretation combined with bright reds as well as soft rosé and nude shades. This limited edition comes with 5 (new) polishes. 'New' is written in brackets because especially the red and purple look very simular to previous limited edition colors.

 

But this doesn't need to spoil the fun.

With a very subtile shimmer that I just couldn't catch on camera

 

 

C05 - Daredevil

My favourites are C01 - Discreet and I'm really no fan of nudes but this one is more like a beige/light brown which makes it perfect for fall...

and C04 - Allure because the beautiful shimmer makes the color also perfect for Christmas :D

 

For the Nail art I chose to reunite with the Gothic culture as well.

I was inspired by a Gothic dress on the accent nail and anckle bracelet for the other nails.



Day 290) Nail art fall (magnet design)

Although magnetic nail polish isn't that hot anymore I do think the effect is still very nice and the one who invented it must be very clever.
Especially with the Essence nail art magnet pen you can create fun designs; as long as it isn't that complicated and detailed.
For today's nail art I created a simple fall design using magnetic polish and the magnet pen.

Day 287) Dry marbled nails

I'm going to be honest with you:
Today I wanted to do a fast and easy nail art...and I did it!
I chose to use the dry marbling technique.
I started of with an opaque white base color and let it dry completely (I used a topcoat to speed up the process).
Then I applied blobs of polishes on the nail and used a dottingtool to swirl it.
For each nail I used white and black and one of the following colors: dark green, dark red, dark purple and dark blue.
It became messy art but I like it!!

Day 283) Nail art fall colors

Busy day today.

A day of no inspiration, desire, willingness.

But a challenge is a challenge, so I tried to get over it and at least make something that looks like a design :D

I wanted to use my new fall colors and the design just happened...nothing fancy but not bad either.

Day 280) Jasper transfer foil

With my last order I decided to make it a round number and therefore Jasper transfer foil also got a chance ;D

 

This is what it looks like:

 

 

It actually transfers the same way on the nail but I think my nail picture doesn't do it justice.

It's a mix of silver, bronze and browns.

Perfect for fall!!!

Earlier this day I almost had a perfect transfer but didn't have time to take pictures.

I hadn't applied any topcoat so when I came to taking pictures I already had some tip wear (which is not odd with transfer foil).

I decided to paint the tips in a bronze because I didn't want to do the mani again.

 

 

Some parts are so shiny you can see yourself in it.

Because I want this mani to last till tomorrow I decided to use a topcoat...mostly not recommended by transfer foils.

But this time it made al tiny cracks in it which I kinda like...it gives a sort of tree bark look.

 

Day 271) Nail art fall gradient (inspired by a scarf)

Today a very simple and easy nail art.

The weather in the Netherlands is getting a bit colder and guess who's the first one with a laryngitis and cold...yes, of coure it's ME!

 

Today's nail art is inspired by this scarf:

 



It's a beige scarf with a dark purple print on the end sides from the brand Promiss

 

So, I started with a beige base (Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer Limited Edition Eve in Bloom C01 Bloomynous) and sponged a purple polish (Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer Limited Edition Eve in Bloom C02 Floralilac) from the tip up creating a gradient.

 

 



Day 270) Marbled fall nails

There are a lot of techniques which can be used to get that marbled look (saran wrap, dry marbling, sponging).
Today I used the sponging technique.
I simply applied 3 blobs of polish on the nail sized sponge (a reddish orange, yellow and green) and sponged it on the nails.
I pushed the sponge several times on the nail, while turning and placing the sponge in different ways.
I had to do this twice to get full opacity.

After applying topcoat and some drying time.
I decided to make a leaf accent nail.
Started with free handing the leaf outline but totaly messed up (pssst I'm not telling).
Then I decided to make everything around the leaf brown and...problem solved (yes, of course this has been absolutely on purpose).

- Vernis POP FLUO no 01 (yellow)

- Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer Limited Edition Neo Geisha 05 Planet Tokyo

- Rimmel London 60 seconds 550 Major Brown

 

Day 269) Abstract nails (fall colors)

Each week we get advertisement leaflets.
They are not only interesting for finding bargains but also for finding inspiration.
The colors for today's nail art are inspired by a leaflet from a clothing store.
I looked at those fall colors together and just wanted to make an easy abstract nail art with it.

So, here it is:

 

 

After the basecoat I applied striping tape by making an "X"



I used the 4 colors from the leaflet to fill up each area.
Then I removed the striping tape and used a striper brush and brown polish to make the "X" again with polish.
