Happy Mother's Day with flowers

Today is Mother's Day and well...it's always a busy day.

With my mother, my hubby's mother and being a mother myself it is not really the most relaxed day.

However I've been spoiled a lot :D

 

There were drawings, poems, chocolate, kisses, a DIY necklace and of course my UV and nail drying lamp!!

 

I recently had a surprise Mother's Day give away on Facebook for my Dutch followers.

I asked them to share a picture of something their mother loves.

Among the shares was a picture of scarves/mini shawls which the mother was obsessed about.

This is what I came up with:

 

 

 

I bought a nice Summer scarf and made a matching nail art bracelet.

 

Now, for my own mother...

She loves flowers and actually is my biggest fan.

From day 1 she's been sharing all my pictures on her personal Facebook page and loves when I do her nails.

Nail art is temporary and I decided that she should have something more lasting as well.

 

 

I've made a nail art locket which can be worn on both sides.

Front side are flowers.

 

Back side is purple holographic with the text: Mom. I love you!

 

 

And I actually found some time to do my own nails as well :D

 

I've started with a white base: Only You White French

Then I took a detail brush (0000) and black acrylic paint to make the flowers.

I've done the coloring with the same brush and the fabulous OPI Sheer Tints.

And decided to finish the design with a matte topcoat: China Glaze Matte Magic.

Day 292) Nail art painting rainbow flowers

After a lot of rainy days today actually started off kinda nice...of course in the afternoon the rain started again but at least there has been some sun :D
Having some sunshine makes me want to make a colorful nail art.

As inspiration for today's nail art I used this image:

 

 

I replaced the butterflies with flowers (to make it easy ;D)

 

 

Day 256) Fall look flowers

Today my mind was set on a flower nail art...it happens ☺

In the Netherlands fall has started with rain, wind and coldness.

Therefore I wanted to give the flowers a more fall look;

making it warm and keeping the design small.

 

 

Working method:

1) Started with a beige base

2) Lightly sponged with gold

3) Handpainted flowers and leaves

4) Matte topcoat

Day 144) Nail art mosaic

Besides the nail polish racks I own, I also have a drawer unit for my nail art related stuff.
Once in a while I have to reorganize these drawers because I don't even know what I've got anymore...and they won't close ;D
When I was reorganizing today I found my crushed shell again and immediately decided I had to do a nail art with this.
But what? I looked at the little pieces and they reminded me of mosaic tiles.

So, mosaic it is!

Materials I used:
- Crushed shell (different colors)
- (Pearly) white nail polish
- Rhinestone picker (I have one with a sticky ball at the end. So you can pick up anything you like with it, as long as it isn't too heavy)
- Small dottingtool

Step 1) After the basecoat I applied some white nail polish on just a little part of the nail. A little part, because this is going to be your glue and when you paint your whole nail it will be dry once you get there. I used a small dottingtool for applying, but you can also use a small brush or something.
Step 2) Pick up a little piece of crushed shell with the rhinestone picker and place it on the desired spot. For a nice and longlasting outcome, I recommend you use the flattest pieces of crushed shell. I used the other side of my rhinestone picker to give the pieces an extra push into the nail polish.
Step 3) Make any design you like. I'll have to say it's very time-consuming, but so is a 'real' mosaic.

I was afraid a topcoat might ruin it, so I used KOH DRY DROPS! instead. One drop and your nail polish is dry within the minute. It also contains Aloë Vera and Vitamin E for the cuticles. My hands were really dry and they LOVE the Koh drops. I did put another drop on the hands as well, that's why my hand is oily.

Thumb: mix of colors (not so interesting)
Index finger: swirl
Middle finger: 3 flowers
Ring finger: rings, circles
Pinky: horizontal lines

Day 129) Flower nail art summer

Flower nail arts are timeless.
Just change your design or colors a little bit and your flower nail art will do just fine at any occasion or time of the year.
Today's flower nail art is for summer nails but you can do them for spring as well of course.
The design is not very complicated and I have a step-by-step.

1) After the basecoat (of course), Paint your nails in a yellow colour

2) Use a striper brush and a purple colour to paint some flowers on your nails.
    (I've made a bigger one on the left and a smaller one on the right, but it all depends on the size
    of your nails)

How to make these simple flowers:
The arrows show the movements I've made with the striper brush. The numbers determine the order.
Grote bloem = big flower                             Kleine bloem = small flower
For the bigger one you start with the outer lines of the flower petal (1, 2 and 3) and then colour it in (4).
For the smaller one start with a dot (1) and then pull the polish to the centre of the flower (2).

3) With green you make the stem and stem leaves. An easier version would be some green dots placed around the flowers

4) Make the centre of the flowers orange

5) Use a pink colour to make smaller flower petals within your purple ones. Again this all depends on the size. I only did this for the bigger flowers.

6) Let it dry for a little while and then apply a topcoat

Day 128) For my mom!

Sunday is Mother's Day!
Mij parents live in Portugal and they will visit The Netherlands on the 15th.
So, no need to buy and send a present because they'll already be here before it arrives.
But what better gift can I give her than a personal Mother's Day nail art...?

Right, that's why this one is for you mom!

Day 120) Nail art dry flowers

I had a great Queensday!
First we watched some tv on which they showed the abdication of Princess Beatrix:

and the investiture of King Willem-Alexander:

To be there in person (which means watch it on the big screen in Amsterdam) is almost impossible because of the crowd and it's much better to watch it on tv anyway.
Then we went to Breda which is the capital city of my province.
The Netherlands has become a country of individuals but at days like these we are all one!
It was a huge orange crowd, not just in Amsterdam but all over the Netherlands.
With people drinking, dancing, laughing and making new friends.
I love this!
It was already very late when we came home but for my challenge I still had to do a nail art...aaaarrrrgggghhhh.
I looked for something easy and...found it: Dry flowers

Dry flowers:

Dry flowers are mostly used for gel and acrylic nails but in my opinion you can use them for nail art on natural nails just as well.

I do recommend you only use the more flatter ones because they stick better, look prettier and don't get damaged that easily.






Usage:
1) Give your nails a basecoat (for a natural look) or paint them in the desired colour.
    You can already use this coat as a glue for your dry flowers but I prefer that let this coat dry.
2) Give your nails a clear coat and use this as glue for your dry flowers.
3) Put the dry flowers on the desired place of your nails.
4) Finish it with a topcoat.
Done!

Too simple for you??
You can always pimp it up by adding some material.
I pimped my nails by using a glitter topcoat and some beads.
I prefer simplicity but hey, we are all different.

The glitter topcoat I used is:

I used this glitter topcoat as glue for my beads.
