Jior Couture Collab Collection #AsYourIndieMakerICommandYou (part 6)

Part 6 already, which means I'm going to show you the sixth lacquer from the +Jior Couture limited collab collection called #AsYourIndieMakerICommandYou.

This very limited collection, which is inspired by HBO show True Blood, is available in store on September 27th.

Today I bring you Bon Temps Rousses.

Tribute to all the Bon Temps redheads (gingers); Jessica, Arlene, Lisa & Ginger (True Blood).

Bon Temps Rousses has a deep orange base filled with gold micro glitter, making it a very rich color and perfect for Fall.

Coats suggested: 2

Finish: Semi matte.

Nail art

The polish name inspired me to paint a redhead.

I'm not the best in painting portraits so this was a big challenge.

I decided to go for a random redhead vampire as I didn't actually want to paint a redhead from the series.

I made the design with acrylic paints and used Bon Temps Rousses to color her hair.

Reto Hi5!

 

I'm not exactly sure where "Reto Hi5" started or came from and what it means.
But I do know that it is a chain of challenges.

When you receive this challenge from someone you can either ignore it (and break the chain) or take the challenge.

She challenged me to paint "Flowers which represent my country for me".
I always love a challenge and this one isn't that hard for me.

The Netherlands is famous by their tulips.

 

 

The tulip industry is quite big and like the image above they make the Netherlands very colorful.

Needless to say that I had to paint tulips :D

I've done a tulip mani before with aquarel:

 

But this time I wanted to do something else. Something more than the tulips that represent my country.

I chose to include our national color orange, a wooden shoe and our flag

All very famous of course ;P

And I included one single tulip...cause less is more!

Day 169) Nail art inspired by summer bracelets

I bought these bracelets a few days ago:

They are light green and light orange.
Nice for summer, but I especially like the combi of light green, light orange and silver.
So, why not use these bracelets as today's inspiration...?!

Step 1:
For this step I copied the colors of the bracelets. I painted my nails in a light orange, except for the ring finger, this nail got a light green color

Step 2:
For step 2 I tried to copy the look of a knotted bracelet.
I used a striper brush and nail polish, slightly darker than the light orange and green.

Nail polish used:

When you look closely to the picture, you'll see that I've painted diamonds with straight lines between them. These straight lines I'm going to use in the next step.
Step 3:
Now that we've copied the colors and the knotting there's still something left; the silver beads.
So, in this step I also used silver beads.
On each straight line I placed two silver beads. Except for the thumb; on the tip I didn't use only beads but I also used some half Pearls (to make it even more cute ;-P).

So, now I have matching nails with my bracelets ;-D

Day 155) Floral nail art

Definitely an off-day!

After putting on 3 different nail art designs which I didn't like I ended up with this one, which I also don't like.

However the conclusion is that I have an off-day and on this kind of days I should just quit because nothing will satisfy myself.

Posting nothing would mean ending my challenge, so that's not an option.

So lets get it over with and tomorrow is a new day!

Day 148) Summer nails (watercolor technique)

Yes, we finally had two days of summer weather and now we're back at rain again.
But for today it felt like summer.
So, here is an idea for summer nails.

Step-by-step:

Step 1:
After the basecoat apply a light colour. I used a light yellow one because of its coverage (only 1 coat!)

For the next steps...first a pic of the material used:

• Tape
• Konad stamping promotion kit
• Grip seal bag/ zipper bag
• Scissors
• Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer - 02 Pimp My Shrimp
• Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer - 27 The Pinky And The Brain

Step 2:

While your base colour is drying, use the tape for covering cuticles and fingers.

Step 3:

Take the scissors and cut the grip seal bag into pieces (bigger than nailsize)

Step 4:

Apply some drops of nail polish (mentioned at material) on to the nail

Step 5:

Take a piece of plastic (from your grip seal bag) and gently place it on your nail. Give it a little push without moving it around. Then remove it again by carefully lifting it up from the nail.

 Step 6:
Remove the tape from your fingers and clean up any mess.

Step 7:
To add some extra 'summer' detail I used the Konad stamping kit for stamping the two butterflies on to the nails.

Day 122) Water spotted nail art with perfume

I came along this nail art and I just have to share it with everybody!
It's easy and it looks fantastic!

I saw some YouTube tutorials about it and I've seen people doing it with hairspray and sanitizer spray. I tried both but it didn't work for me. It either made too big spots or it clotted together as a sticky black mess.
After several times of trying my eye catched a perfume sample and I thought: "Let's give it a try maybe that will work". And it works!!!

Materials:
- Bright colors nail polish (at least 3)
- Black nail polish
- (Tape)
- A cup or something which you can use for water marbling
- Perfume (perfect way for using the samples or perfume you didn't like or use the one owned by
  your signifant other ;-D )
- Nail polish remover

Step-by-step:

1) Paint your nails with the bright colors.

I used pink, yellow, blue and orange to devide the nail in 4 parts and then added some purple.
I did use a topcoat (for the picture) but I don't think this is necessary yet.
If your cuticles are a mess right now don't clean up you'll have to do that later on anyway.
Let the nail polish dry.

2) Use the tape on your fingers if you want to decrease the cleaning later on.

3) Fill your cup with slightly warm water from the tap.

4) Drop the black nail polish on the surface of the water: 3 or 4 drops should be enough.

The nail polish has to spread on the surface. If it doesn't you either have to adjust the temperature of the water or get a newer polish.

5) Spray your perfume on the surface of the water. Start a little high with spraying and wait a few
     seconds to see if there is a reaction.
    If not. Get a little closer and try again. A max of two sprays should be enough for a nice spotted
    design.

6) Choose the spotted area you like and dip your nail on it (flat)
    Then move the finger slowly forwards in the water.
    Use a toothpick or something to remove the excess polish from te water (around your finger).
    And carefully lift your finger out of the water.

After each nail dip there will still be some perfume left on the surface of the water. Therefore I recommend that you clean your cup after each nail dip. You don't want the reaction with the black nail polish as soon as you drop it on te water but after spraying.
By cleaning I mean putting the cup under the running tap for a few seconds.

If you finished all your nails this will be the look you'll have:

Note: When you spray once you'll have smaller dots but I wanted the bright colors to have the lead not the black.

7) Remove the tape and clean your skin and cuticles with the remover.
    Wait for the nail polish to dry and finish it with a topcoat.
    DONE!

I love it! These are hot summer nails

Day 119) Nail art Queensday

Tomorrow is the abdication of our Queen Beatrix and the investiture of Prince Willem-Alexander.
A day in history for our small country The Netherlands.

Of course I have to do a nail art about this:

On the left you see a homemade waterdecal of our Queen Beatrix en on the right is our new King Willem-Alexander.
The rest is hand painted.

Day 117) Kingsday nail art

Today is Kingsday in the Netherlands.
Not official yet because the crowning is on Tuesday when it's Queensday.
It's been a while since we had a king so everybody is very excited and already celebrating this day.

For this day I have to do some national nail art.
Less interesting for you guys....??
No! You can still use the designs in different colours or make your own national nail art with it.

 These colours are my base for the nail arts.
N.B. Our flag contains red, white and blue and the colour we use at special events like the Olympics, Queensday is orange.

1)

I started with some randomly placed red dots. For this I used a dottingtool. After the reds I did some orange dots and finished it with some blue dots. Outcome: Dutch confetti

2)

First I made a gradual design with white on the middle of the nail.
I do this because my red and blue aren't good for 1 coat. At least not when they are applied on darker colours like the orange.
The first step gets a red colour. The second a white and the third a blue colour. I like to give my designs some golden accents because of the king/queen. But it also gives the opportunity to disguise some failures.

3)

Start by making a crown.
Make two ribbons underneath the crown.
Give the ribbons the colours of your flag.
I detailed the nail art by giving the crown some gold (bottom) and gold glitters (outlines).

4)

For this design I simply used the same technique as you would do to make a tigerprint.
Place stripes alternately. Starting thicker on the outside and thinner at the inside.

5)

Start by making some balloons.
Then give the tip of the nail your flag colours by using something simple to apply (beads/billions/caviar, velvet or in this case glitters).
Use a brush to paint one stripe of clear coat on the desired place. Glitter it. Then apply the second stripe of clear coat and glitter it. Do the same for the last colour.

Day 115) Nail art day & night

Today was a very nice day.
The weather reminded us of the Summer that's going to come.
I spent the day sitting in my backyard while the kids were playing with water and sand.
Tomorrow it will be a lot colder and we will even get some rain again.
The difference in weather is as big as the difference between day and night. Which brought me to the theme of this nail art "Day & Night".
If got 5 different designs for you:

First design:

1. Start with painting the nail in black. When this is dry. Divide the nail diagonal in half with a light blue colour as shown on the first picture.
2. Take yellow and make a sun and moon.
3. Then detail the nail art with some white and black: eyes and mouth of sun and moon. Some white stars (small dots) on the 'night' side and some white clouds on the 'day' side.

Second design:

1. Start by painting the nail in a light blue colour.
2. Then paint a white circle on the nail.

3. Divide the circle in a kind of Yin and Yang by using a blue en yellow colour.
4. With the light blue you make the moon and some stars (small dots) on the 'night' side. With orange you make the sun on the 'day' side.

Third design:

1. Start by painting the nail blue. When this is dry make the lower half dark blue.
2. With yellow you make the sun on the upper half. I used light blue for the moon and stars.

Fourth design:

1. Paint the nail white. Use black to divide the nail as shown on the first picture.
2. The white half circle represents the moon. On the other side you create a half sun with yellow.

Fifth design:

1. Paint half of the nail white and half yellow.
2. Use black to make a circle and divide the circle as shown on the second picture.

3. Fill up the left side of the circle with the same yellow as the rest of the half nail.
4. Give the left side some sunbeams. You can do this by making the rest of this side blue (see picture)

5. Now dot the same for the other side (moonbeams) and make everything outside these beams and on that side dark blue.
6. Now give the sun some body by making an orange mouth and eyebrow and by giving it an open eye. Detail the sunbeams. N.B. The sun and moon are sharing the mouth and nose.

7. The last step is giving the moon some details; give the mouth a blue colour and make a closed eye (see picture).
The moonbeams get some more detail by using the dark blue colour.
