Ever since I saw this nail art:

I've been wanting to do something simular.

Mine didn't turn out as good as the one above but I'm still very happy with the outcome...
Black and some bling are the ingredients for a beautiful mani IMAO.

Day 292) Nail art painting rainbow flowers

After a lot of rainy days today actually started off kinda nice...of course in the afternoon the rain started again but at least there has been some sun :D
Having some sunshine makes me want to make a colorful nail art.

As inspiration for today's nail art I used this image:

 

 

I replaced the butterflies with flowers (to make it easy ;D)

That's been my inspiration for today's nail art.

 

 

Day 214) Nail art meteor shower

For today's nail art I used the following image as inspiration:

To me this image represents a meteor shower.

 

Here is my step-by-step:

Start with a black base color

Use a striper brush and white polish to make some stripes.

Starting at the cuticle and of different lengths.

Use a dottingtool or your striper brush to make a (tear)drop at the end of each stripe.

Use the striper brush and different colors of polish to color your meteor shower in.

Add a dot of lighter shade in the middle of the (tear)drops.

I used the same colors as for the meteor shower, only this time I added some white polish to it.

Add some glitter!!!

With striper brush or on the entire nail.

If you're happy with the result...topcoat it!

I wasn't really happy...yet.

I chose to make the stripes less wide by using my striper brush and the black.

Then I finished with topcoat.

 

Done!

 

 

Day 207) Puzzled

It's so hot here.
And when it's hot in the Netherlands, it is really HOT!
Bubbles on my painted nails, quick drying nail polish...pfff and most of all, no inspiration.

With a puzzled mind I came up with today's nail art, it's a kind of puzzle.
I used a small dottingtool for this nail art and lots of colors.

Today's nail art is inspired by my bikini:

Day 175) Abstract circles and stripes

For today's nail art I used this image as inspiration:

I like how the circles stand out on their own but also take part in the complete look.
Time to translate this to my nails I think...
Here is my step-by-step:

Step 1: The circles

Material:
- Tape
- Perforator

Take a piece of tape and fold it in two (sticky sides onto each other)

Perforate the piece of tape.
Unfold the tape and there you have two perfect circle stencils (that is...if your perforator is still sharp enough to perforate through tape)

Stick your DIY circle stencils on the desired place on your nail.
Then paint some horizontal colorful stripes on them.
I chose to do this design as accent nails on my index and ring finger.
Remove the tape.







Step 2: Fill up the rest of your nail(s) with vertical colorful stripes (I used the same colors from the circles). Topcoat and done!

Day 134) HOT nails

The title of my blog post suggest that I have a very nice nail art for you...and I have!
At least, so I think ;-D
Not only is the look very 'hot'.
The word 'hot' is also a reference to the design of today's nail art; which is 'flames'.

After the basecoat I painted my nails black and applied a topcoat:

For today's nail art I used 16 different colors of nail polish (including the black nail polish from above).
This is a lot and I understand that if you aren't such a huge nail polish and nail art addict as I am, you might not even own 16 different colors or more.
In that case I recommend you keep it at one colour group which means you only need 4 colors (including the black). For example if you choose the colour group pink, you'll need a lightpink, a regular pink and a darker pink or possibly white, pink and red). Whatever you like!

The nail art itself can be made in 3 simple steps:

1. Start with the lightest colour and make long flames. Starting from the tip and ending almost at the cuticle
2. Then use the middle colour to make flames, starting from the tip and ending at 2/3 of the nail
3. Last you use de darkest colour to make flames, starting from the tip and ending at 1/3 of the nail

For the flames it's best to use a striper brush. This brush almost makes flames on it's own. Because in the beginning the brush releases more nail polish than at the end (which will be the end of your flames). Not sure about it...just try a few times on paper to get used to the technique.

To illustrate the steps I have some pictures for you:
1)

First make some wavy stripes one way (picture 1), then let these stripes be crossed by wavy stripes the other way (picture 2). Start with the lightest colour, beginning from the tip and ending almost at the cuticle.

2)

Make the same wavy stripes as above with the middle colour. Beginning from the tip and ending at 2/3 of the nail.

3)

Do the same with the darkest colour, beginning from tip but ending at 1/3 of the nail.
Apply a topcoat and done!

 To make this nail art really 'hot' I used a different colour group on each nail:
- Thumb: greens
- Index finger: blues
- Middle finger: purples
- Ring finger: pinks
- Pinky: oranges
