Two Glitter bombs

On the 2nd day of Christmas NPQ gave to me...

Two Glitter bombs

Perhaps not so Christmassy but the quote is a gift I want to give everyone this Christmas:

"Glitter bomb yourself, you were born to sparkle!"

Movember nail art

 Yes, it's Movember.
Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues.
The goal of Movember is to change the face of men's health.
I can't grow a moustache (duh), but I can make a nail art for support.

Luckily for me, Movember is also the challenge over at Nail Polish Queens (NPQ) community.
If you have time...join us at NPQ and support Movember.

I'm sooooooo short on time lately, so this is a quickie.

Base color is: Kiko (Sun Show nail lacquer) 475
Moustache is created with loose gold holographic glitter.

Born Pretty Store Prize and Glam Polish swatch

Today I bring you a gorgeous polish by Glam Polish.
Glam Polish is an Australian Indie brand.
All Glam Polishes are 3-free and cruelty free.
They only ship to the USA and Australia but there are some international stockists that ship worldwide.

I also won a Born Pretty Store prize a while ago and recently I received it.
The prize: water decals (chosen by me) and some random products (extra gift from BPS).
Now, I'm not going to show you all the items yet because more blogposts are coming ;-)
Want to purchase anything yourself? You can use my 10% off code: HUB10

Let's start with the polish.

That old Black Magic is part of the Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend collection which was inspired by Marilyn Monroe.
The black base is filled with a mix of glass fleck glitters, micoglitters, and a touch of holographic dust.
Two coats is enough to make this beauty nicely opaque.
Finish is a bit textured but a topcoat immediately gives you a nice smooth finish if you want.

First up is a macro shot of this beauty.
Look at those gorgeous colorful glitters!

Picture above is taken in the shade.
Like any other (holographic/glitter) polish this beauty needs some light to show its true beauty.
However this polish isn't just a dull black in the shade; The rich mixture of glitters makes it already interesting to look at.

But let's be honest...
It looks best in direct light!!
I could even discover a subtle linear holo but my camera refused to pick it up :(

And yes, those studs you're seeing, they came from BPS.
These work great with this polish as they remind me of diamonds and the rainbow colors like a holo is just perfect as well.

What do you think of this polish?

Day 284) Viva Las Vegas nail art

I'm a member of Nail Polish Queens (NPQ) which is a community here on Google+
If you're loving nail polish/nail art and/or other nail related things (which you probably do because you're reading my blog ;-D) you should join for sure.
The moderators of this community (which are really lovely people) host a weekly challenge for all who's interested. Nothing to win, just a bunch of people showing their work with that weeks theme.
This week's theme is Las Vegas!
As I'm low on inspiration this challenge really helps me to get some new ideas! So, thanks ladies!

Here are my Viva Las Vegas nails and chances are I will do another one this week :D

Day 243) Peacock nail art

Yesterday I got a real bargain because all the nail products were 1+1 (buy one, get one for free).
I also took an Essence special effect topper.
Mostly I don't even notice these special effect toppers.
Many times it's just a clear polish with glitters...when I have simular glitters at home I will make it myself!
But this one I couldn't resist taking (well, and it was free).

Essence Nail art Special effect! topper - 15 Glitter on me

This clear polish has silver micro glitter combined with multicolor strips/pieces which gives the total look a kinda holo one.

The colors and the feather like pieces reminded me of a peacock.
Although I've done a peacock nail art before I wanted to do it again and this time prettier.

I used a pretty teal color as my base:
New York Color NYC - 206 East Village

I didn't know how the outcome would be with the topper. Therefore I took the picture above.
But here is the one with Essence topper:

Which one do you prefer most?

Day 156) Nail art blue stripes (abstract)

Today's nail art is a custom one.
It's for a drug store called Etos.
Besides the make-up from the more commercial brands (Like L' Oréal, Bourjois, Rimmel, Max Factor), they also sell their house brand.
Etos also has a company slogan which is: Etos blue fits you!
And of course their colour is blue.

For today's nail art I used 4 nail polishes from their house brand and made a design which looks a little like a barcode.

Material:

- Dark blue nail polish (metallic); Etos Quick dry nail polish
- Jeans blue nail polish; Etos Long lasting nail polish
- Light blue nail polish; Etos Quick dry nail polish
- Blue glitter topcoat; Etos TOP coat
- White nail polish; Only you
- Striper brush
- Striping tape
- Scissors
- (Regular tape)

Step 1:
After the basecoat paint your nails white.
Step 2:
Use the regular tape or striping tape to tape off the sides of your nails. Leaving a stripe in the middle.
Step 3:
Use the striping tape to divide the middle (vertical) stripe into (horizontal) stripes. Vary the space between the striping tape.
Step 4:
Use the striper brush to colour in the stripes. For the bigger spaces I used the dark blue, for the middle I used the jeans colour and foor the smallest I used the light blue.
Step 5:
Remove the (striping) tape
Step 6:
On the ring finger I did an accent using the glitter topcoat. I kept the middle stripe smaller on this nail. Then I used the striping tape again, but to leave space on the sides of the nail. On the sides I applied the glitter topcoat
Step 7:
Apply topcoat. Done!
Applying the striping tape is the most time consuming. I would suggest to do this striping design only as an accent nail.
How about it?
Does Etos blue fit you?!

Day 146) Sparkling love

Today I was looking at some wallpapers for my new laptop.
I think I am in desperate need of some nice weather because I could only look at colorful wallpapers with a lot of neons.
In my search for the 'perfect' wallpaper I found this image:
Source: http://www.freegreatpicture.com/celebrity-symphony/fantasy-wallpapers-509

Not 'perfect' for me as a wallpaper, but it is 'perfect' for today's nail art.
I didn't want to make an exact copy. So I gave it my own touch.

1) As base colour I used a dark blue, sparkling nail polish
Maybelline Forever Strong Pro - 650 Midnight Blue
2) Then I made the outer lines of the hands with a striper brush. I used a neon pink and neon green for this.
3) Because I wanted to paint the heart neon yellow. I had to make a white heart first (My neon yellow is very watery and doesn't show that well on darker backgrounds).
4) From the hands I started to paint some kind of laser beam. I used a sparkly purple nail polish for this.
5) I gave the heart it's neon yellow colour and added some gold fine glitter. Still the heart wasn't oustanding enough (in my opinion). I chose to give it a base colour (dark blue) outline.
6) For the thumb and pinky I simply applied some glitter.

Some sparkling love for my dear followers!
Thank you!
