Day 235) Beads nail art "eye"

Going through old pictures...and I found this picture of my eye with rainbow iris (aren't those mobile phone apps fun to play with!):

The image above has been my inspiration for today's nail art and I thought it was time to use some beads again ;-D
Curious how I made it???
I have a YouTube tutorial:

And here is the picture of today's nail art:

Day 203) Classy rock nails

I've been asked to do a nail art with spikes.
It's not really my thing, but I like to answer to any requests.
I've searched the Internet for some cheap spikes, but in the Netherlands I could only find one site providing them and they were too expensive in my opinion.
I decided that (until they become cheaper) I would use a cheaper version; the stud version of spikes.
They are a little bigger than the Nail version, but they just have to do.

Here is my classy rock nail art (with spike ;-D )

Day 197) Lanscape nail art

Since I'm enjoying my holidays here in Portugal, I've totally fallen in love with tropical landscapes and other vacation scenes.
Today another landscape, this time using beads for accents.

Day 149) Nail art crosses

I've had a request for nails with spikes today.
Only webshops provide these. So, that's an upcoming nail art.
However, I did immediately think about rock nails.
And there are always crosses on rock themed nails.
Today's nail art is only about crosses.

First I painted my nails with a gold and black nail polish. I finished them with a matte topcoat.

Thumb: Max & More (Action store) nail stickers
Index finger: Square studs and pearl
Middle finger: Rhinestones and black beads (on the picture the gold gives the beads an orange look)
Ring finger: An outline of golden beads and a cross made of pearls
Pinky: Striper brush design. I made the outer lines of the cross with a black nail polish. Then colored it with a dark grey. The snaky thing is in silver. (In real life there's a big difference between the grey and silver, but this doesn't show well on the picture)

Hope you like them!

Day 141) Nail art circuit board

I've got my late Mother's Day gift; a too expensive new laptop.
After a day of many frustrations I finally have all my software installed, files copied and pictures imported.
Only positive thing: I didn't even have to think about today's theme. My nail art had to be something with computers I thought.
I did some Googling and found an image of a circuit board:

This had to be my inspiration.

Step-by-step:

Step 1) After the basecoat apply a dark green colour

>Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer Limited Edition Neo Geisha - C05 Planet Tokyo

Step 2) Use a striper brush and a light green colour to paint the circuit lines
(I didn't have a light green only a neon green, so I chose to the lines in white first and then paint them neon green)

Step 3) Use studs and beads for the components and soldering work. I used my topcoat for glue

Not your average nail art.
But I'm glad my husband and son appreciate this one LOL
Would you put this on your nails?

Day 132) Très chic

Actually I wanted to do another Mother's Day nail art but I just couldn't think of any design.
After the heavy velvet I was sure I wanted something simple and delicate again.
Something chic and elegant...something more me!
Today's nails are chic and easy to do.

1)
First I divided my nails into 3 not even parts.
These 3 parts all got a different colour.
The colors I used are:
- Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer - 800 Heavy Metallilac (the purple colour)
- W.I.C. by Herome Limited Edition Magical India - 201 Jaipur (plum colour)
- Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer - 840 Genius in the bottle (goldish colour)

I used a nail art brush and painted the parts freehand but you can always use tape for a more neatly design.

These colors look great when you use them on the whole nail and paint them with the brush that comes with the polishes but in this design it shows the brush stripes that I've made.
I don't like it and this is not the look I was aiming for.

2) I decided to use a matte topcoat for a more chic design.
The matte topcoat I used:
-Miss Sporty - Check matte

Already a chic look I think but still I was looking for the 'tres' chic.
I went through my stuff and found the beads. Yes, this was going to be my 'tres' in 'tres chic' :-D

These nails are more 'me' and I love them.
How about you? Love or hate?

Day 120) Nail art dry flowers

I had a great Queensday!
First we watched some tv on which they showed the abdication of Princess Beatrix:

and the investiture of King Willem-Alexander:

To be there in person (which means watch it on the big screen in Amsterdam) is almost impossible because of the crowd and it's much better to watch it on tv anyway.
Then we went to Breda which is the capital city of my province.
The Netherlands has become a country of individuals but at days like these we are all one!
It was a huge orange crowd, not just in Amsterdam but all over the Netherlands.
With people drinking, dancing, laughing and making new friends.
I love this!
It was already very late when we came home but for my challenge I still had to do a nail art...aaaarrrrgggghhhh.
I looked for something easy and...found it: Dry flowers

Dry flowers:

Dry flowers are mostly used for gel and acrylic nails but in my opinion you can use them for nail art on natural nails just as well.

I do recommend you only use the more flatter ones because they stick better, look prettier and don't get damaged that easily.

Usage:
1) Give your nails a basecoat (for a natural look) or paint them in the desired colour.
You can already use this coat as a glue for your dry flowers but I prefer that let this coat dry.
2) Give your nails a clear coat and use this as glue for your dry flowers.
3) Put the dry flowers on the desired place of your nails.
4) Finish it with a topcoat.
Done!

Too simple for you??
You can always pimp it up by adding some material.
I pimped my nails by using a glitter topcoat and some beads.
I prefer simplicity but hey, we are all different.

The glitter topcoat I used is:
Essence nail art special effect! topper - Nr. 16 Cool breeze

I used this glitter topcoat as glue for my beads.

Which look do you prefer? The simple one or the pimped version?
Let me know!
