Winter look (nails+face)

I really enjoy making those total looks.
But man, the trouble to get there :D

First the nails...
I broke 3 nails down to pity size and just couldn't get used to those tiny, sad looking nails.
Picture will show acrylic nails that I did myself.
For the nail art I started with a gradient of holo's:
* A england - Tristam
* Layla - Ocean Rush
* KOH - Platinum Silver!
Which I stamped with white snowflakes.

Then the make-up...
Yesterday I've created a look that took me about 2 hours.
Too late to take pictures cause I really needed to get the kids from school.
I've made a total fool of myself by showing up at school with the make-up on (although the kids thought I was part of a Disney's Frozen play).
Rushed home, took 125 pictures and decided NOT ONE was good enough :-/
Today I've been having more luck and I'm actually very, very pleased with how it turned out :D

Hope you like it too!

Day 338) Nail art winter landscape

I had a fabulous Birthday yesterday and all the sweet comments topped it all; THANK YOU!

Back to winter and Christmas.

For today's nail art I've used a Morgan Taylor polish as base.
I didn't even know about this brand until I saw it on a webshop.
After looking at some swatches from other people I got 3 different bottles :D
They sell about the same price as China Glaze and the bottle shows some simularities to the ones of OPI (size and look).
Quality wise these polishes sure can compete with other big brands!

Here's a swatch of Morgan Taylor Under the Stars:

"Under the Stars" is a navy blue jelly with holographic glitters.
I thought being a jelly and all that this would take at least 3 layers, but 2 coats was just perfect.
There is a great amount of glitters in there and because of this you don't have to 'fish'.
A big part of the holographic glitters gets buried in and under the jelly base but inspite of being disappointed this creates depth and really makes this polish look like a starry night sky.
It dries quickly and a little bumpy because of all the glitters...nothing a topcoat can't fix :D (picture abobe is with 1 coat of Seche Vite)

For the nail art I used a nail art brush and Pupa P249 115 (pearly white polish) to create a winter landscape with pine trees, snowman, star and snow.
I finished by dipping the tips of the nails in a snow powder glitter (white+holo).

Day 329) Nail art icicles

Still in the frosty mood :D
I guess I'm more of a winter than a fall person.
Today icicle nails.

I've started with a dark blue background Catrice Ultimate Nail Lacquer 350 Hip Queens Wear Blue Jeans!
Then I've used a striper brush to paint the letters Bourjois 06 Adore-bleu and colored it in with OPI liquid sand mini Kiss me at midnight
After this I've used the same brush to paint the icicles Claire's 60553 White
I felt it was still missing something so I ended with a little sparkle around the cuticles NYC 003 Disco Inferno

Today's nail art turned out to be one of my favorites so far.
I've started with a sponged gradient from dark blue to silver and even on its own it is already very pretty ♥

- NYC 208 Pier 17
- Rimmel Cocktail Colour 130 Apple berry smoothie
- Essie Beyond Cozy

Then I used a striper brush and white polish to paint different kind of snowflakes.
Polish used:
- Claire's 60553 White

Hope you like it as much as I do!!!

Day 327) Nail art Winter!

I have so many ideas for Christmas themed nail arts...I can't wait!
But in the Netherlands it's not done to even think about Christmas before Sinterklaas his return to Spain (on December 6th).
So, I'll be saving those for after the 6th.
Meanwhile I'll be throwing some winter nail arts in cause December will be mostly Christmas ;D

Day 325) Nail art winter fun

Last night we had our first snow.
It's not cold enough yet so it was al gone in the morning.

I love snow! Better than rain ;D and I'm looking forward to the Winter.

Therefore a winter nail art with snow fun: making a snowman together.
And I finally got the chance to use my white sand!

Day 323) Pupa Crazy Lurex

Today I want to show you this set by Pupa:

Pupa Crazy Lurex Holographic Microfibres
This set contains the following:
- A pearly nail polish
- A brush
- A jar with holographic microfibres
Let's start with the pearly nail polish. On the picture is two coats of Pupa P249 115:
This is such a beautiful polish!
It's pearly and has a delicate shimmer which makes it suitable for any occasion. Very elegant, graceful and classy.
It applies easy and two coats gives a perfect coverage.
Although there is a tutorial on the back of the package...of course I haven't read it (yeah, just like a man).
But I guess you are supposed to apply one coat let it dry and use the second coat as glue for the microfibres.
For the swatch I wanted to have good coverage so I've use a topcoat as glue for the microfibres.

I've worked nail by nail.
Starting with a layer of topcoat and generously sprinkling on the microfibres (you might use something to catch the surplus microfibres). Then I shaked my hand to get rid of some extra.
After finishing all the nails I've used the brush gently over the nails and to clean up the cuticles.
I'm very happy with the outcome (picture doesn't really do it justice). It does have a holographic effect and it's just sparkling in any light.
I love it, it looks kinda snowy :D
Great for a winter mani or for the holidays to bring that sparkle!!!
I do think the set is a little expensive as there are many cheaper alternatives...maybe holographic microfibres are already sold somewhere...
So, I hope Pupa gets smart and makes it less expensive.

For the nail art I've done a simple snow star:
