Happy Mother's Day with flowers

Today is Mother's Day and well...it's always a busy day.
With my mother, my hubby's mother and being a mother myself it is not really the most relaxed day.
However I've been spoiled a lot :D

There were drawings, poems, chocolate, kisses, a DIY necklace and of course my UV and nail drying lamp!!

I recently had a surprise Mother's Day give away on Facebook for my Dutch followers.
I asked them to share a picture of something their mother loves.
Among the shares was a picture of scarves/mini shawls which the mother was obsessed about.
This is what I came up with:

I bought a nice Summer scarf and made a matching nail art bracelet.

Now, for my own mother...
She loves flowers and actually is my biggest fan.
From day 1 she's been sharing all my pictures on her personal Facebook page and loves when I do her nails.
Nail art is temporary and I decided that she should have something more lasting as well.

I've made a nail art locket which can be worn on both sides.
Front side are flowers.

Back side is purple holographic with the text: Mom. I love you!

And I actually found some time to do my own nails as well :D

I've started with a white base: Only You White French
Then I took a detail brush (0000) and black acrylic paint to make the flowers.
I've done the coloring with the same brush and the fabulous OPI Sheer Tints.
And decided to finish the design with a matte topcoat: China Glaze Matte Magic.

To all mothers and mothers in heart:
Have a fabulous, amazing Mother's Day!

Holo animal print nails

Thanks to +Kathleen Coultes I discovered I had never really done a holo gradient.
Which is weird because I love holo's and gradients.

I grabbed as many holo polishes as I could and decided it was a perfect opportunity to use some untried as well.

I've started by applying the lightest colors on the nails:

Polishes used (from left to right):
- Catrice Limited Edition Haute Future C03 iROSEdescent
- Catrice Limited Edition HOLOMANIA C04 Plum Me Up Scotty
- Catrice Limited Edition Haute Future C01 Eletrix Blue
- KOH Colours! 127 Metallic Green!

Looking at the above image I think it's fair to say that KOH by far has the strongest holo.
Application is much harder though and it also requires more coats.

After I made these nails I got the tip to only sponge one color onto the background colors but in this case I've sponged both colors onto the background.
I'm not sure if it will make a huge difference colorwise but it sure is easier application wise.

It was a rainy day and I had to take the pictures inside.
The above image was actually the best I could get :(
But gosh these were so pretty in the sun.

Polishes used at the tip side (from top to bottom):
- Layla Hologram Effect 03 Retro Pink
- Color Club 999 Eternal Beauty
- Layla Hologram Effect 07 Ocean Rush
- Catrice Limited Edition HOLOMANIA C03 Holo In One

For the nail art I decided to go with animal prints
I've used a detail brush and black acrylic paint to make the designs.

Polish friend mail (swatches and nail arts)

Before Easter the kids and I weren't feeling so well.
My dear friend +bubica vucko decided I needed some cheering up and sent me some goodies.
They finally arrived on Saturday but they completely made my day as it was a quite cold one.
I used the weekend to make some swatches and nail arts with these pretties.

Look how she packed the goodies!
She knows I'm a sucker for chocolate and this of course brought a huge smile on my face...almost tearing up I tell you.
Even my hubby thought this was very clever :D

This was revealed when opening the package.
+bubica vucko so clever!
4 Beautiful polishes and a very sweet card. Thank you so much dear friend ♥♥♥

Here are the 4 friend nail mail polishes:

This is 2 coats.
Number 140 is a gorgeous blue shimmer polish.

This is two coats.
I'm not a fan of yellow polishes they just don't match with my skin tone.
Number 48 however isn't a plain dark yellow but has a very pretty golden glow to it...
making it very rich indeed.

This is 2 coats.
Number 03 is a very pretty duo chrome.
Bronze shifting to green.

I'm very happy with these +bubica vucko and I can't thank you enough for sending me these ♥

Matte mix and match nails (blue, silver & white)

What I love about art in general is that you can get your inspiration everywhere.
Therfore my computer is like a huge Pinterest board.
Everytime I see an image that I like I save it somewhere on my computer and once in a while when I'm out of inspiration...I go through them and find something that I want to translate to my nail art.
I don't consider this stealing or copying but I do think it's decent to mention the source...
and that's where I fail.
I save the images as fast as I can using numbers or a letter and when I finally come to use them I don't even remember where I got it from.
So...I can only show you the images but sadly without a source.
Now, if you happen to be the owner of one of these images.
Consider my publication as a compliment.
You can always ask me to remove the image are mention your source/URL and I be happy to publish it :D

Here are today's inspirations:

I'm really in love with the jewelry above.
I love the ring and the bracelets and I love the combination of dark blue & silver (& white).

Here is my nail art:

Polishes used:
- Only You White French
- Maybelline 650 Midnight Blue
- Layla Mirror Effect Nail Polish 01 Metal Chrome
- China Glaze Matte Magic

Northern lights nail art with OPI Sheer Tints

The next rainbowy nail art with the OPI Sheer Tints is inspired by Northern lights.
I have never had the possibility to witness it in real life but as from pictures, paintings and art I have to believe it's beautiful.
I found it very hard to translate this beauty into a nail art but I tried my best.

After the basecoat I applied two coats of Maybelline 650 Midnight Blue:

Then I gave two nails Picture Polish Gravity and two nails Picture Polish Aurora.

Picture Polish Gravity over Maybelline Midnight Blue:

This picture doesn't do the polish any justice. The silver sparkles that you see are actually holographic but it wasn't sunny here :(

Picture Polish Aurora over Maybelline Midnight Blue:

I then took a detail brush and white acrylic paint to set out the Northern lights on the nails:

After some drying time I randomly placed the OPI Sheer Tints:

If I had to do this nail art again I would have made it more subtle taking less space of the nails but I'm pretty happy with this first go :D
